Dr. Mark Savant

I was born and raised in San Francisco and grew up in a multicultural household with four siblings. My mother was from Hong Kong and was of Indian and Chinese origin, and my father’s family was from the French/Italian Alps and Ireland. I live in San Francisco with my wife, two sons, and our dog. Much of my free time is spent attending my sons’ various sporting events. I also enjoy exercising regularly, cooking, keeping up with the latest on diets and health, and rooting for our local sports teams.

My Philosophy

I am deeply committed to delivering patient care with an ancestral medicine approach. This means integrating time-honored healing traditions and natural remedies with the latest advancements in longevity medicine. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that health and wellness extend beyond just treating symptoms; they involve understanding the intricate relationship between our bodies and the environment in which we have evolved.

I recognize the profound significance of the doctor-patient relationship. It’s the cornerstone of my practice, and I cherish it. I am not just your family doctor; I am the doctor in your family. This unique bond allows me to tailor my care to each individual, considering not just their medical needs but their lifestyle, aspirations, and connection to their community.

I lead by example through “The Savant Lifestyle” – a testament to a life well-lived. It’s a lifestyle centered around a healthy diet, regular exercise, achieving both inward and outward peace, and a strong orientation towards family and other personal relationships. This holistic approach to life isn’t just something I preach; it’s something I live by every day. My aim is not only to improve your health but to inspire a transformation in your overall quality of life, fostering a long-term partnership that thrives on mutual respect and understanding.

My Credentials

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Classics from the College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts, I spent a year in France on a Fulbright teaching fellowship. While in France I decided to pursue a career in medicine and went on to complete my MD at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I completed my internal medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose and taught at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.

In 2001, I founded the Savant Medical Group, a general practice based in San Francisco. I have been named a top-performing physician for the Hill’s Physician Medical Group for four consecutive years. I continue to serve as one of the team physicians for the Athletic Department at the University of San Francisco and their Division One NCAA sports.

Since starting my own practice, I have cultivated an extensive list of partnerships with medical specialists and alternative health professionals across San Francisco, Marin and the Peninsula. I have hospital privileges through St. Mary’s Medical Center, St. Francis and UCSF and referral networks within California Pacific Medical Center.
